Spring Flowers Bloom Early at 2013 Hampton Roads Home and Garden Show

It may be cold outside but everything is coming up roses at the 2013 Hampton Roads Home and Garden Show. This year's event begins Friday, February 8, at 10 AM and runs through 6 PM this Sunday, February 10. Children 12-and-under get in free, and discounted admission is offered for military members and senior citizens. There will be a variety of vendors offering information about products and services of interest to homeowners and house hunters. Bring the whole family for a day of fun.

Those interested in gardening will have many exhibits to visit during this show in Hampton Roads. Knowledgeable speakers will enlighten listeners on topics like keeping home houseplants healthy, miniature landscapes, inviting butterflies and birds with native plants, creating topiaries, planting azaleas and pruning. Explore what it takes to make a perfect fairy garden and how to create natural fertilizer. Children can participate in crafts focused around nature. Expert horticulturalists give their opinions and tips to help attendees make their own gardens greener. Get ideas as you stroll through specially designed display gardens.

Those who like the interior more than the exterior of properties have plenty of eye candy in this three-day event too. Like to cook? Even if you don't, it will be hard to resist aromas coming from the daily cooking demonstrations held in on-site gourmet kitchen. Mike Wolfe from "American Pickers" is scheduled to share his insights about repurposing items for household use. Have those antiques appraised by Lori Verderame, Ph.D. The 2013 Hampton Roads Home and Garden Show offers opportunities for anyone interested in having a beautiful residence.
