Summer Fun in Hampton Roads Begins in June

Beginning this month, start having fun in Hampton Roads! Even though it may not officially be summer yet, it is a great time to hit local attractions before crowds take over and the heat becomes unbearable. Southeastern Virginia is full of exciting things to explore, so forget filling up the gas tanks and look closer to home for fun, family entertainment. Like nature? You're in luck! The Virginia Zoo is the perfect place to learn about exotic animals. The Norfolk Botanical Gardens bursts with blooms. The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center is alive with aquatic activity and an IMAX theater. The Virginia Living Museum has all sorts of native critters and plants available for public viewing.

Want to live a little this summer? Try heading over to Williamsburg. Busch Gardens recently unveiled its new ride, Verbolten. The Mach Tower ride is also relatively new, as it was only opened last August. Favorite rides, shows and animal exhibits will be available for visitors to enjoy. And nearby, Water Country USA is a waterpark everyone can enjoy with slides, waterfalls, pools and more right here in Hampton Roads.

There are so many types of museums in this area, it may be hard to narrow down which ones to visit first. The Chrysler Museum of Art has an extensive collection of fine art that patrons can take time to observe. The Virginia Air and Space Center offers exhibits, educational opportunities and an IMAX theater too. Military fans will like the Virginia War Museum in Newport News that showcases wars throughout history and the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach that highlights the importance of flight in battle. However residents decide to have fun this summer, they can have easy access to it here in Hampton Roads.
