My license is currently in Referral, which means I am taking a break from actively practicing real estate at the moment. I am happy to say that there is no need to worry! My like-minded fellow agents at FIT are readily available to assist you with your real estate buying and selling needs.
Virginia Holcomb has a simple philosophy for life. "Kindness doesn't cost a thing," she says, "so I try to lead with kindness." When Virginia decided to become a real estate agent, she knew this philosophy would lead her right. Everyone needs a little more kindness in life.
Those closest to her would say that Virginia is also very loyal and dependable, two more qualities any prospective client would appreciate. Her 21-year-old son recently told her that she's always willing to sacrifice anything for anybody. This kind, giving disposition is evidenced by her career choices that have led her to this point.
Virginia got her Associates Degree in early childhood education. Before getting into that field, she was offered a job at a pharmacy. She worked for the pharmacy, which serviced nursing homes and health care facilities, not retail. Virginia is driven by a desire to learn and to help people. She found an opportunity for growth and eventually got certified as a pharmacy technician. The pharmacy was a place where she honed her people skills and after 15 years, Virginia decided to make a change, choosing to stay at home with her boys.
When Virginia returned to the workplace, she found a new niche for serving clients working for the city of Portsmouth in social work. Virginia found a lot of fulfillment working with families and helping people. Not every story works into a happy ending, but the success stories made it worth it for Virginia. She has also worked in property management.
As life changed and Virginia transformed from being a soccer mom to an empty nester, she wanted to do something that would bring the same fulfilment she found in serving others in previous jobs. She was ready for a new adventure. "I always want to do something new," says Virginia. That kind personality who loves meeting new people and learning new things saw her next challenge in real estate.
"It is the best when you get to turn the keys over to your client and see them meet their goal. I love to see them get the pot at the end of their rainbow." Virginia is always asking questions. She loves hearing what her clients are looking for and how she can help them find the home of their dreams. She admitted she also has a secondary reason for loving real estate. "I love looking at houses," she laughs. Taking clients to view homes and discussing the details they are looking for is pure fun.
Virginia was born near Boston, Mass and named for her mom's home state Virginia. Her family moved here when she was 8. She's been married to her husband Jeff for nearly 30 years. They have 2 boys, Crews who is 23, and Hunter who is 21 and just entering the Air Force.
In her free time Virginia loves to watch old black and white movies and TV shows, like I Love Lucy and Katherine Hepburn movies. She loves to travel and the family goes to Boston regularly for family reunions. Virginia has a habit of adopting pets who need a home which results in a lot of adventures.
