Spending the Holidays in Your New Home

If you have a new home in Hampton Roads this year, consider spending the holidays there. Forgo the trip to grandma's or your in-law's and enjoy Christmas, Kwanzaa and/or New Year's in your new residence. Having a home of your own means you can continue or begin your own holiday traditions with those you love.

Make the holidays sparkle in your Hampton Roads home by:

  • Settling in. If you've just moved in, now is a good time to put everything in its place. The sooner you unpack those boxes, the sooner you can begin getting in the holiday spirit. Meet the neighbors while you're at it to get a real feel for the community.
  •
  • Decorating. Be as creative as you want with holiday decorations. Choose just the right tree, hang a special wreath and don't forget the mistletoe. Add lawn decorations to pack an extra punch.
  •
  • Hosting parties. Now is the time to live it up, but don't do it alone! Show off your new digs by holding a housewarming party, Christmas party or New Year's Eve party. Invite different groups of guests, so parties stay under control; then get ready to celebrate!
  •
  • Inviting family members. Be the new home in Hampton Roads everyone wants to visit. Invite family members to your own holiday shindigs, and see how things differ under your own roof.

Spending the holidays in your own home can be wonderful, so invite loved ones to Hampton Roads and prepare to experience some serious Christmas cheer.
