Adding Curb Appeal to Your Home This Fall

As the buying season may have slowed, curb appeal can be especially important in the fall. And luckily for sellers, fall offers an abundance of inspiration that owners can draw from when setting the stage for a sale in Hampton Roads. The crisp autumn air can really bring out those buyers too.

Add easy curb appeal this time of year with:

  • Seasonal flowers. Chrysanthemums, often just called mums, are popular and can add a festive touch. Pansies can also work well in the cooler fall weather, while giving the front part of your home a punch of color. Place flowers in containers to flank the entryway of your house, in window boxes or in front beds.
  • A welcome mat. A fall-themed welcome mat can show you're seasonally savvy. Don't feel like you have to veer on the juvenile side with scarecrows, jack-o-lanterns and witches. Fall leaves, acorns, seasonal colors and cornucopias are welcoming images this time of year.
  • Natural fall décor. Pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn and hay bales can make fun displays. Luckily, these fall items can be found easily throughout southeast Virginia. Get creative when incorporating nature's colorful bounty into a front yard display, but keep it simple by not adding too many objects or hues.
  • Leaf removal. Fallen leaves can make even the prettiest of homes seen unkempt. Keep those leaves bagged up on regular basis until all the leaves have fallen for the season. Eco-friendly sellers can crush up leaves and use them as compost.

Autumn is a festive time of year, and in Hampton Roads, a beautiful one as well. Sell your home by creating curb appeal focused around fall, and have fun in the process!
