Interest in the real estate business started young for Zory Ann Hernandez. She got her license in Puerto Rico at just 18 years old. As the market declined, she decided to pursue her education and traded her warm island life for the bitter north winters of Massachusetts where she attended UMass. There she got a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Master’s degree in Accounting. But after working as a financial analyst for a few years, she felt drawn back to her first love, real estate.
This vivacious, fun-loving, Latina brings her Puerto Rican passion to her real estate. The culture she grew up in is very family oriented. “I want my clients to feel like they are family. I want to really get to know each other through the process,” says Zory. “I hope that we will develop the kind of relationship that we stay in touch long after the sale is final.”
One of the things that brought her back to real estate after working in the financial world is connecting with people. “I love the way you get to help people and then actually see the results.” In a trip back home this year, Zory returned to the house where she grew up. The beautiful feelings and memories she experienced made her think, “I want to give that to my clients. A house they can call home. A home they can make beautiful memories in.” Memories that start through a seamless buying process with Zory’s help.
Family connection is such a driving force in Zory’s life that she starts every morning with a phone call to her Vieja (grandma) and Viejo (grandpa) in Puerto Rico (after she brews that strong cup of Puerto Rican coffee of course!). She follows that call up with another to her mama who currently lives in Colombia. Only after checking on them is she ready to start her day.
In her free time, Zory can be found sipping rich black coffee in aLatte Café on Granby St, one of the cozy coffee shops in Norfolk. She and her husband Luis enjoy tasting coffees in fun coffee shops around town, always eager to support local business. Zory met Luis in a chance encounter at a Sam’s Club in Puerto Rico. It was one of those romantic moments where eyes meet across a crowded room and a connection is made. Luis asked for Zory’s number and the rest is history. Luis joined the Navy and the two have made Hampton Roads their home for the past 5 years.
Zory would love to start a family of her own in the near future. She calls her only brother Jose her best friend and would love to have two little ones to enjoy that unique sibling relationship. But for now she enjoys being mom to her fur-baby Tango, a lovable little Maltese. She has many interests that include ballet, which she also danced growing up, attending Opera and Symphony performances, and enjoying the outdoors through hiking and biking. She has had the pleasure of traveling to places like Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Alaska, Canada, and Spain.
Zory is an energetic, warm agent who can’t wait to meet you and is ready to give 110% to help you with all your real estate needs!
