Sometimes you have to try a few different paths before you find the one that’s right for you. That’s how it was for Suhaily Lubben. Before becoming a real estate agent, she worked in a preschool, she went to cosmetology school and styled hair, she worked for General Mills mixing Progresso soups in the huge vats. She even drove a forklift for them, which she found kind of fun! Through it all she kept acquiring skills and talents that would one day serve her well in her dream job.

Little did she know that her dream job would come to her as she was helping a friend. Her best friend was a real estate agent in New Jersey and Suhaily was going along with her to a few of her showings. The more they talked about real estate, the more Suhaily realized this is what she wanted to do. She loves helping people, she was obsessed with real estate, and she and her friend dreamed of owning their own real estate firm by the ocean. Before they could realize their dream, Suhaily moved here to Hampton Roads with her husband who is an aircraft mechanic in the Navy. Suhaily pursued getting her license in 2015 and has enjoyed helping many military clients buy and sell homes here in Hampton Roads.

“I love meeting new people and making new friends,” says Suhaily. “Everyone is so unique in what they want. I love showing them around town to see what they are interested in before we narrow down the houses they want to see.” Suhaily makes a point to understand what her clients are needing in a new home. She cares about her clients and tries to advise them toward homes they will love and can afford. She is honest and doesn’t like to see clients buy houses they might qualify for, but really can’t afford. “I tell my clients to budget according to what they can afford, not what they qualify for.” says Suhaily. She wants to guard them against getting in over their heads.

Suhaily understands the importance of being patient and kind with her clients. There are many aspects of the real estate deal that can be complicated and even frustrating. Suhaily takes the time to patiently explain every step and help her clients feel confident that they are getting correct information. Through years of working with military clients, Suhaily has learned many of the nuances of working with the VA loan process. When she is unsure about something, she doesn’t mind contacting the lender and getting the latest information to make sure her clients are up to date.

This passionate agent was born and raised in Puerto Rico and moved to the mainland when she was a teenager. She is fluent in Spanish and keeps her Puerto Rican culture close to home through her cooking. She has 3 boys who are 17, 14, and 6 and a 13-year-old daughter who all love her alcapurria, a delicious fried fritter made of green bananas and yautia (taro root) and stuffed with a savory meat mixture. Her family also includes 2 rescue dogs Rocky, a Boxer mix and Honey a Lab mix. When she’s not helping clients buy or sell houses, Suhaily loves to be outdoors. Tent camping, hunting, hiking, going to the beach, gardening…she simply loves being outside. Taking pictures and reading romances are also high on her list of things she loves to do.
