Life comes in seasons and Sherri Ward is a real estate agent who has personally walked through many of the life seasons her clients experience. She can identify with the First-time homebuyer; full of questions and intrigue over the mystery of purchasing a new home. The Move-up buyer has many of the same reasons Sherri and her family had to sell that starter home and buy a bigger home to fit their growing family. And the season Sherri faces now identifies with the Downsizer. Grown children going off to pursue their dreams can leave homeowners with more house than they want to maintain. Sherri excels as a real estate agent because she has been in each of these seasons and can relate to her clients in very personal ways.

An educator at heart, Sherri has a Bachelors’ degree in Business Administration from James Madison University and a Masters’ of Education from Regent University. Sherri loves educating people. She has spent time in education in various capacities throughout her career. She has served as an Academic Advisor, and an Education Coordinator at Norfolk State University, working with high school students preparing them for college. That love of educating has transferred to her real estate career. When she first got her real estate license in 2001, she was pregnant with her 3rd child and wasn’t sure how this new career was going to work out.  She sold 3 houses in the first couple of months and realized her passion for people, and love for education were a perfect match for real estate.

Throughout the years, Sherri has been recognized with real estate awards for volume, but the accolades are not what motivates her. “I’m in it for the people,” says Sherri. “I love when I see that lightbulb moment in my client; when I help them accomplish something they didn’t know how to do.” Sherri believes in being 100% present in relationships. She works to understand the personal needs and desires of her clients so she can help them find the home that is the perfect fit for them. Her clients have told her she makes them feel like they are her only client even when they know that’s not true. The friendships she forges through the real estate experience often carry on long after the closing; frequently being invited to family celebrations. Helping multi-generations buy and sell homes within families, from parents, to children, to extended family members; for some she has become an honorary member of the family.

Family is very important to Sherri. It was her love of family that got her involved in real estate in the first place. Being an agent gave her the flexibility she wanted as a mom to raise three amazing children with her husband Terry of 23 years. Sherri is entering yet another season. Her oldest daughter is currently serving in the Navy, while another daughter is an aspiring chef attending Johnson and Wales University, and her youngest daughter is graduating from high school this year as she prepares to attend Howard University. Sherri too is spreading her wings and trying new things she didn’t have time for when she was raising her children. Her latest passion includes all things home décor and design. She loves designing her home to create visually appealing spaces. She’s in a phase of decluttering and is fascinated by home organization videos online. She is motivated to rework areas of her home to give it new purpose. When the whole family is together, she also loves watching football with them or enjoying a good movie.
