Nicholas Groves is a dynamic, innovative agent who has taken a lifetime of experience and channeled it into being an agent who gets the job done well. Part of that experience was gained during 10 years in the Marine Corps. As a decorated veteran, Nick relies on core values gained through military training. Serving others is at the foundation of all he does and true to the ethos of a Marine, Nick says, “Mediocrity is not an option.”
“I’m a bit of a perfectionist,” says Nick. Needing to do everything 100% makes him a great agent. He pulls out all the stops to make sure his clients get the best service and ultimate outcome in all their real estate endeavors.
The Marines brought Nick to Hampton Roads in 2009, but he quickly embraced it as home. Also growing up in a military family, he knows what it is to move frequently and relies on that experience to help his military clients smooth the process of relocating.
Nick brings with him a full tool box, both figuratively and literally. Not only is Nick an agent, he is also a licensed contractor. His knowledge of construction gives him a breadth of knowledge that benefits his clients, especially when evaluating properties to purchase. “I love helping people,” says Nick. “I love being able to help clients buy a home…not a house.” One of the ways he does that is by advising clients on the potential benefits and pitfalls. He has experience buying and rehabbing over 30 homes in the last 3 years. He enjoys using the tools he has acquired over the years to help clients choose the best home with the most potential for increased value. Being a very analytical guy, Nick uses tools to help read the market trends to help his clients make informed decisions about the properties they are considering.
Nick also has many connections and contacts both in the real estate field as well as in construction. Helping clients handle every piece of the real estate transaction is Nick’s specialty. “I have a diversity of experience from settlements and loan transactions to the home inspection contracting piece of it,” says Nick. He recalls helping one client who had been prequalified for a loan. They found a great property, got ratified and 3 days before closing found out the client didn’t actually qualify for the loan program. Nick was able to help the client find a different lender with appropriate funding and he brought his client to closing just a few days later. What could have been a deal ender, Nick was able to push through and help his client find a workable solution. Nick will never quit. He is committed to seeing his clients through to success.
A huge motorcycle enthusiast, Nick owns 3 Harleys. In fact, it was on a motorcycle ride that he first considered going into real estate. His riding partner was a real estate course instructor and convinced Nick this would be a great career path for him. In 2013 Nick jumped in and has been building on that foundation ever since. It was after his first year in real estate, that Nick decided to get licensed in contracting as he could see the benefit of expanding his knowledge of the many areas of home buying and building. Learning to analyze market trends rounded out that knowledge and Nick is confident that the tools he brings to his client experience covers every area they could need expertise in.
In his down time, Nick is an avid outdoorsman. He loves boating, kayaking, hiking and camping. He also loves animals and considers himself a wine connoisseur.
