Introduction
The Naval Amphibious Base at Little Creek was first developed during World War II. The base is at the northwest corner of Virginia Beach, near Norfolk, and is on a small inlet on the southern shore of the Chesapeake Bay. Little Creek was designated a permanent installation in 1946 and is the focal point for U.S. Navy/Marine Corps amphibious training and operations on the East Coast of the United States.
