Prepare for Company Successfully Before the Holidays

The holidays are right around the corner, so now's the perfect time to prepare for company. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve are some of the more popular holidays in the fall to winter timeframe. And for many homeowners, this means extra people. Guests, both invited and uninvited, may show up without much notice. Being prepared can keep residents sane, and make visits go smoothly.

Prepare for Company by:

  • Cleaning. Start with a deep cleaning, and keep up with weekly cleaning duties to ensure your home looks its best. You never know when someone could drop by for an impromptu visit!
  • Keeping snacks on hand. Load up on finger foods that keep, such as pretzels and chips. Then add to your stash each week with fresh items like veggies, seasonal fruits and dips. Combining any of these foods won't take long, it will give your guests something to much on and you won't have to stress with figuring out what to prepare on the fly.
  • Bringing in extra seating. Depending on how many additional guests you may be expecting, additional seating can be a good idea. Especially since you never know if guests may arrive at the same time, which could double or triple your flow of company. Card tables with chairs, dining room chairs or even folding chairs can work in a pinch.
  • Decorating. Festivity can begin with holiday decorations. Whether it's jack-o-lanterns, turkeys or Christmas wreaths, each has a way of impressing company this time of year. These can also make great backdrops for memorable photos!

These simple steps show it really can be easy to prepare for company before the holidays!
