Sharing a conversation with Suzanne, a life-long resident of Hampton Roads, is like sitting down for coffee with a close friend. Her free and easy conversation is filled with personal stories and life observations mixed with a sincere desire to listen. Her love of people is one of the things that drew her to real estate and continues to makes her a great agent.

"My favorite part of my job is connecting with families. Not the transaction, but the relationship," says Suzanne. Many of those relationships continue long after closing day. Suzanne has clients that are repeat customers, coming back when the time comes to buy or sell again. "I have many people I've worked with 3 or 4 times," she says. Some clients even adopt her as a family member, inviting her to special family events.

Suzanne got her start in real estate 17 years ago. "I think the best thing a person can do is find something that brings them joy." For Suzanne it was real estate. Fresh out of the College of William and Mary with a double major in Government and English, Suzanne was looking to either go to law school or into broadcast journalism. While waiting for a callback on an interview in broadcasting, she landed a job in sales. She especially enjoyed her experiences with her multicultural clients from places like Japan and South Korea and her major clients, Boeing and Pratt Whitney. That started her on a career in the corporate world, but after a few years of traveling and at one point managing 150 people, she was looking for a change. Her experience in sales translated well into a career in real estate.

As a new agent 17 years ago, Suzanne recalls feeling a little terrified working with her first client. "I was very new. And didn't have any real training." She was working for a builder on a new construction deal. She worked hard, faithfully gave herself to the process and saw the clients through to closing day. Hoping the client would be happy with their new home, she was rewarded with the words every agent hopes to hear, "When we first talked to you, I told my husband, 'If the house is as good as she is, it'll be awesome'." This was the first of many happy families. Suzanne was hooked.

"Buying a home should make you feel like a trip to Disney World, only it costs a lot more," says Suzanne with a giggle, of the home buying process. Suzanne lives for the feeling that comes with helping people find just what they are looking for. "When we find what they want, I feel the energy in the room change." She describes finalizing the deal as a confetti moment. Suzanne remembers saying to one excited client, "You look like you're waiting for the confetti to fall!"

Suzanne is married to Steve, a lecturer at ODU and they have 2 boys, David, a 10th grader and Benjamin, an 8th grader. The boys have inherited their parents' musical talent. Suzanne jokingly called them "The All Boy Except One Girl Band" when they were younger. Steve is a talented and versatile guitarist who plays in a couple of classic rock bands, Suzanne plays piano and the boys play trumpet, drums and guitar. Their audience often consists of their Parti Poodles Mango and Rosie.

A lover of words, Suzanne can be found either reading or writing in her free time.  A relaxing afternoon for Suzanne is laying in a hammock with a good book or journaling the many things she is grateful for. This energetic and positive agent can't wait to meet you and embark on your home buying or selling journey.
