Agent, Paul Koehl, ensures everything is shipshape for his each of his clients in their real estate transactions.  This 23-year veteran of the U.S. Navy is originally from Indianapolis, but has made his home in southeast Virginia for more than 45 years. Although he’s traveled the world, he finds this part of the mid-Atlantic a choice place to reside. Living in various cities throughout Hampton Roads allows him to guide those relocating to the area. Paul says, “I’ve lived in Yorktown, Portsmouth, Norfolk and Virginia Beach,” he adds, “I’ve sold properties in all those areas.”

He worked in various capacities during his years of service. Paul retired as a chief petty officer, but not before learning a myriad of skills and taking college courses in computer science. He mastered proficiency in areas like managing and analyzing, which now benefit his clients. “Sometimes I had 60 people working under me. I worked with captains of ships up and down the East Coast.” His experience came in handy when he transitioned into the field of computer system analysis as a government contractor.

Then in 1994, Paul charted a new course. He began working in real estate as an Accredited Buyer Agent (ABR).  “I was taught how to work with buyers, and serve their best needs.” He also worked for companies with vested interests in real estate owned (REO) properties.  “I managed them, took care of them, listed them and communicated with the bank,” Paul concludes, “I was doing whatever needed to be done to get the property sold.” This pair of eyes can really put things in context for anyone needing to estimate renovation costs.

Clients take note; this trustworthy agent also brings a something extra to the table. Paul is a Certified Investor Agent Specialist (CIAS), which means he learned the precise art of finding and determining properties that provide the highest return potential for investors. “Not every property is suitable for investment, and that’s what I can help determine pretty fast.” His honest attitude makes it easy to see why clients keep returning for Paul’s skill set. He works in this industry with his wife Loretta. “We compliment one another well.”

He is now on board with and says, “They’re fantastic!” Besides helping investors, Paul specializes in first-time homebuyers and military clientele. Service members looking for a truly understanding agent find an ally in Paul. “I’ve walked in those shoes.” This veteran agent shares his expertise with his clients, so they can feel comfortable whether they’re buying or selling homes. “I help clients achieve their desires in the best possible way I can.” His philosophy is simple. “I don’t sell properties. My clients buy properties,” he continues, “I’m providing the knowledge and assistance that a buyer needs to make one of the biggest decisions in his life.”

Although he’s not a sailor in an official capacity anymore, Paul can still be found out on the open water. He certainly knows his way around a sailboat and has even sailed the Intracoastal Waterway from Florida up to Virginia. He also likes all types of cars. “I have an old Corvette.” Always wanting to do his best is his passion in life. He enjoys concerts, movies and beach outings with his wife. This active grandfather attends sporting events where he can cheer his grandchildren onto victory. Paul lives with his wife in Virginia Beach.
