Kayla Pope is an agent who is as kind as she is knowledgeable. Recognized as a Five-Star Real Estate Agent in 2013 by Hampton Roads Magazine, she is known for her caring nature and wealth of experience. This esteemed honor is awarded after a committee and board of agents’ peers approve surveys completed by past clients noting exemplary service. It is this kind of commitment to customer service that make Kayla stand out among the rest.

She is originally from Michigan, but has resided in Hampton Roads since 1996. Kayla served 10 years in the U.S. Navy where she learned the value of preparedness. She decided to turn her six-year part-time real estate job into a full-time career upon her honorable discharge in 2005. Real estate seemed like an ideal fit, as she holds a Bachelor of Science degree in construction management and an associate’s degree in drafting and design.

Working in this field for 15 years coupled with her education, makes Kayla the professional both buyers and sellers can count on when they need expert guidance in this market. Her specialties include working with first-time buyers and aiding those looking for new construction properties. Anyone unfamiliar with the process of purchasing a home can truly benefit from Kayla’s vast insight. As a mother and U.S. Navy wife, she is familiar with housing needs of military members and knows exactly how to help anyone facing a PCS move in or out of Hampton Roads.

Kayla is not only skilled at finding the right homes for her clients, but also stays on top of the mortgage industry to ensure her buyers get the most amount of house for each dollar spent. She believes in bettering both herself and others, so she stays current on various types of homes loans such as FHA, VA loan programs and FHA 203k rehab loans. She’s even familiar with little-known city grant programs that can help homebuyers; she assists buyers in getting upwards of $20,000 through these avenues. “I believe everyone deserves a home they can call ‘their own,’ whether it’s $50,000 or $500,000,” says Kayla. She has a no-nonsense approach to home buying and tells those unsure if they can afford a home, “I can tell you what you need to do, and I can guide you down the right path.”

The practice of helping others trickles into Kayla’s personal life, as she volunteers with several organizations including the African Awareness Campaign, Adopt-a-Family food drive and various ministries within her church. As an active member of the Tidewater Investment Group, she shares her financial savviness by instructing those with poor credit how to improve their scores. Her personal goal is to own and operate transitional homes for battered and abused women. Here she plans on offering budgeting, credit repair and job interviewing classes to enable residents to become self-sufficient.

Kayla enjoys living in this part of Virginia where there is always something to do.  She likes spending time with loved ones, shopping and going to local attractions in her spare time. Hobbies include skating, bowling and traveling to tropical locales when her schedule permits. She hopes one day to travel to Fiji with her sister.

"Several months ago I set out on what seemed to be an impossible task, buying my first home. I am a single mother on active duty with limited time and money. The only savings I had to rely on were my income taxes but my dreams were big. Kayla kept me grounded and helped me search for that perfect home. My limited knowledge of the real estate game had me very discouraged but she was there from the beginning to the end. Kayla tolerated the morning, evening, and weekend calls but most of all no question was a "dumb" question. I told her what I wanted and she told me what I needed. I am not from here but she made sure my children were in a good school district along with an excellent neighborhood. I will not use another agent for my real estate needs and I have recommended her to all of my co-workers, family, and friends. The most important thing to Kayla was getting me into the home I had envisioned; a commission was not even mentioned. Thank you Kayla!"
