Ben grew up in southern Maryland in a town called Pomfret, about 30 miles south of Washington, DC. He first arrived in Hampton Roads courtesy of the US Navy in 1997 and lived in Ocean View from then until 2000. He enjoyed living on the Virginia Beach oceanfront for a year after that.
Ben spent nine years (1996-2005) serving in the US Navy as a photographer/videographer, winning several military and photography awards. During his service, he was stationed on the USS Nimitz in Bremerton, WA and Norfolk, VA and with the Naval Media Center in Pearl Harbor, HI. His time in service included being an embedded videographer during the initial "Shock and Awe" phase of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and shooting some of the first war footage seen worldwide on the major networks. In 2005 he separated from the Navy with an honorable discharge and moved from Hawaii to Greenville, NC, where he started a commercial photography studio.
His time in the Navy taught him firsthand the unique circumstances military families deal with when relocating. He has a servant's heart and a true desire to help others. While working with clients he asks himself, "How would I want my family to be treated when looking for a home?" That is the kind of attention and service that he aims to provide. He works hard to be the best agent he can be and to develop a reputation for dealing fairly and honorably with his clients. While he does not have a background in Real Estate, he has been mentored by some of the best agents in Hampton Roads.
Ben moved back to Hampton Roads in 2009 with the sole purpose of being a real estate agent serving in this area. The Hampton Roads area is rich in history and culture making it a great area to enjoy with his wife, Susan, and raise his two sons (plus their dog, cat, rabbit and chinchilla). Being a full time real estate agent allows him to help relocating families to make Hampton Roads their new home as well.
